Carl M. (Pete) Lombard, age 81, passed from this earth to his heavenly home at 9:00 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Pete was born on May 6, 1935 to Charles Lombard and Zetta Schultz Lombard, Avilla, MO. He married Doris Ann Chrisman on September 12, 1953 in rural Carthage, MO. Doris resides in Carthage. He attended grade school at Blake Elementary and High School at Sarcoxie. He was a dedicated member of the Blake Baptist Church for over 60 years. Carl worked in the lumber and hardware business serving the communities of Avilla, Golden City and Carthage for over 50 years and a member of the Army National Guard for 9 years during the Korean War. Pete enjoyed playing music with his father and brothers from an early age at community, family and church functions. Quail hunting was a favorite sport he shared with his sons and grandsons.
Pete is survived by his wife Doris Ann and two sisters; Norma Lombard Wortman and husband Gary of Springfield, MO, Sara Nell Carter and husband Ron of Joplin. Two sons; Terry Lombard and wife Caryl, Louisburg, KS and Bruce Lombard, Carthage, MO. Four grandchildren; Derek Lombard and wife Hayley, Justin Lombard and wife Jill, Jana Lombard Moser and husband Patrick and Kelsey Lombard. Seven great grandchildren: Mae, Cora, Jonas, Madelyn, Annabelle, Alivia and Mavis as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; W. Charles Lombard, Daryl L. Lombard and Norman Eugene Lombard.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 Wednesday evening, May 3rd at the Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 4th at Blake Baptist Church with Jerry Mayfield and Kenji Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at Avilla Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Derek Lombard, Justin Lombard, Keith Maggard, Dave Lawyer, Larry Chrisman and Tommy Neely. Honorary pallbearers are Ron Carter, Gary Wortman, Buck Curtis, Leroy VanDyken, John Stirewalt and Lusterford “Buck” Meister. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the American Institute of Cancer Research – ww.AICR.org.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper, Missouri.
