Bill Goodnight, 85, passed away May 10, 2017 at Carthage Health & Rehabilitation Center. Bill was born October 1, 1931 to Lowell and Cornelia “Spencer” Goodnight in Carthage. Bill was a lifetime resident of Carthage. He was a machine operator for Carthage Marble, worked for Holt Electric and raised cattle for several years.
Bill was united in marriage to LaVera Tatum on June 28, 1952 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; she survives.
Bill is survived by his brother-in-law, Ron Tatum and wife Lillie of Carthage. Additional brothers-in-law and their wives include Royce Tatum, Robert Tatum, Ralph Tatum, Ray Tatum, Rollie Tatum, Rex Tatum, Rickie Tatum, Randy Tatum and Rodney Tatum. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Linda Adams, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, LaVerne Black and Shirley Holt.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Jasper Cemetery East of Carthage. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the Carthage Humane Society in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
