Dorothy Ona (Butler) Peck, age 95, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday May 11, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Michelle, following an illness.
Dorothy was born on May 31, 1921 in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of the late Levi E. and Minnie B. (Baker) Butler. She married Wallace T. Peck on January 25, 1941 in Sapulpa, Ok., together they raised six children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband owned and operated Mac’s Bakery for twenty-five years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was active in the Relief Society of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace T. Peck on November 11, 2002; one son, Dennis L. Peck; one son-in-law Robert J. Holgate; and her sister, M. Bernice Higgins. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Dixie P. Peck, Springfield, Mo.; one son, Turner L. Peck, Overland Park, Ks.; four daughters, Rita K. Hughlett and husband Joseph R., Westland, Mich.; Terri R. Holgate, Parsons, Ks.; Michelle D. Endicott and husband Patrick G., Granby, Mo.; and Carla G. Hardiman and husband Willie L., Joplin, Mo.; thirty grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
