Victor Thomas Elbert, 89, lifelong Seneca resident passed into eternal rest at 3:45pm, May 11, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after an illness.
Victor Thomas Elbert was born February 17, 1928 the son of Alvin Joseph and Mary Cecelia (Hoff) Elbert. Vic was a 1945 graduate of Seneca High School. He served his country in the Navy. Vic was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Neosho, MO, St Mary’s Parish Council Member and on the St. Mary’s Cemetery Committee. Vic retired after 31 years, from the former Sperry-Vickers Plant in Joplin. He also worked for seven years for the Seneca R7 School District. Vic loved to fish, hunt, and be with his family.
Victor Thomas Elbert married Dorothy Jean Metscher October 22, 1947 in Seneca, MO and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include 7 children, Victoria Even, Seneca, Gloria Craven and husband Larry, Neosho, Kay Myers, Neosho, Alvin Elbert and wife Dusty, Seneca, Theresa Hendrix and husband Bruce, Coffeyville, Timothy Elbert and wife Tracie, Seneca and Monica Salter and husband Doug, Seneca 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Mary Elbert; three brothers, David Elbert, Martin Elbert, Charles Elbert; one sister, Estella Irwin and one grandson Tony Scott.
Rosary services will be held at 6:00 pm, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall in Seneca. Viewing and visitation will be from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm following Rosary services. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 15, 2017 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Rest in peace, cousin Victor. I'm glad I had a chance to meet you years ago.
