Kathy Teaford

(From Parker Mortuary)

Kathryn Martin Teaford (Cox) died peacefully at home after a long illness on February 27th in Joplin, MO at the age of 78.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Ann Teaford of Joplin, son Chad (Susan) of Louisville, KY and three grandchildren, Kate Rainey and Jack and Cora Wesley, a brother, John Cox, and a sister, Cora McPherson. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Janet, and a brother, James, all of Beckley, WV.

Kathy was born on May 10th 1940 in Beckley to Ann and A. W. Cox. After moving to Joplin in 1969, she raised her family and attended Missouri Southern College. She graduated from MSC with a degree in nursing in 1972 and began a 30 year career as an RN.

Kathy loved good books and conversation. She enjoyed painting landscapes, gardening and creating a serene home for her family. Known for her sharp wit, strong opinions and fierce loyalty, Kathy pursued her various interests with passion.

The family requests that donations be made to National Public Radio, specifically KRPS, or Avalon Hospice in lieu of flowers. NPR sustained Kathy for years and Hospice blessed the whole family in her final months.

A visitation for all who would like to help the family remember Kathy will be held at Parker Mortuary on March 31 from 2 - 4.
