Raymond Cash

Raymond W. Cash age 87, passed away at his home, March 28, 2019. He was born on May 9, 1931 in Carthage, Mo. He was the son of James R. Cash and Myrtle (Cole) Cash.

Raymond graduated from Carthage High School in 1950. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 4 years. He went on to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 42 years. He retired in 1993 and has been retired for 26 years.

He married Anna M. Hagen on July 10, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, Mo. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Cash and his parents, James R. Cash and Myrtle (Cole) Cash.

During his retirement, Raymond was a volunteer for the Telephone Pioneers, reading to kindergarten children at West Central Elementary School. He also volunteered with the St. John’s Auxiliary at the information desk. He had also served as an assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 3, when his son, Gary was in Scouts. Raymond loved to play golf with his friends. He also had a hobby and nice layout of H.O. trains. He was a member of First Community Church in Joplin, where he served on the board.








He is survived by his daughter, Linda Whitteck and husband Mark of Webb City, Mo; two grandsons, Joel Hoyt of Joplin, Mo, and Jason Hoyt of Lee’s Summit Mo; and three great-granddaughters, Kayla, Lilly and Anastasia.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019 at Osborne Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
