Sharon Overman

Sharon Kay Overman, age 72, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West following a short illness.

Sharon entered this life on October 24, 1946, in Joplin, Missouri, to the union of the late William and Pansy (Carver) Overman. She was a lifetime resident of Joplin. Sharon enjoyed making quilts and baking special breads for her family. She was also a lifetime member of the Joplin Church of God (Seventh Day). Sharon taught Sabbath classes at church and her creative outlet led in her creation of church skits. She loved her family deeply and was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Roger; and a niece, Deidra Gray.








Survivors include her siblings, Brenda Overman of Joplin, Alvin Overman and wife, Alva, of Joplin, Alice Snyder and husband, Joe, of Exeter, Missouri, and Deanna Gray of Joplin; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Overman of Carl Junction and Leah Overman of Pocahontas, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Fairview Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Vernon Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
