Jerry Colburn

Gerald Carl Colburn "Jerry", passed away on August 5, 2026, at his home in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 80. He was born on December 28, 1945, to the late Ray and Anna (Schickels) Colburn.

Jerry lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and devotion to the people he loved. He was known throughout his life for his dependable nature, his strong work ethic, and his genuine care for others. Those who knew him will remember a man who was always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or offer practical help when it was needed most.






Jerry served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that helped shape the discipline and character that would guide him throughout his life. He took great pride in his service and in the values it instilled in him. That sense of responsibility remained with him in every chapter that followed, and it was reflected in the way he approached his work, his relationships, and his daily life.

Following his military service, Jerry became the owner and operator of Jerry's Heating & Air Conditioning. Through his business, he built a reputation for honesty, reliability, and dedication. He was a workaholic in the best sense of the word, and he took great pride in serving his clients well. He valued the trust people placed in him, and he worked tirelessly to make sure that every job was done with care and professionalism. His commitment to his work was matched only by his commitment to the people around him.

Jerry loved the outdoors and found joy in simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed riding lawn mowers. He was often seen in his blue jeans and Navy shirt, a familiar and fitting look for a man who remained true to himself throughout his life.

Above all else, Jerry loved his family. He was devoted to them and took great pride in the bonds he shared with those closest to him. His love was steady and sincere, and it was evident in the way he showed up for the people who mattered most. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and his work, but also for the warmth, loyalty, and strength he brought to his family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Price) Colburn; children, Kevin Colburn (Stephanie), Keith Colburn (Stephanie), Kassie Smith (Bryan), Lonnie Wilkins (Jennifer), Teresa Harris (Charles),and Bryan Meyer; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Bailey, Judy Fazio, and Sharon Montgomery.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Colburn; and siblings, Sonny LaBelle, Mickey Colburn, and Skip Colburn.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO.
