Anna Pope

Anna Marie Pope, 99, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was born on July 29, 1927, in Carthage, to the late Roy and Lois Carr. Anna graduated from high school and went on to receive an associates degree. She was a stay-at-home mom and dutiful wife. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Carthage.

Anna was united in marriage to Charles R. Shultz. He was a veteran of World War 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and preceded her in death in October of 1974. 








After Charles passed away, Anna found love again and was united in marriage to George Pope Jr. in January of 1975. George was also a veteran of Korean War and Vietnam War. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2016.

Anna is survived by two sons, Daniel Shultz and his wife, Janet, and Michael Shultz; three stepsons, Tryon Pope, Carl Pope, and Michael Pope; one stepdaughter, Patty Pope; one sister-in-law, Jane Carr; three grandkids, Cory Shultz, Danielle Shultz-Wyatt, and Brandon Shultz; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Howerton; three nieces, Carol, Karen, Linda; and three nephews Phil, Chuck and David.

She was preceded in death by one stepson, Melvin Pope (June 6, 2022); one brother, Bill Carr; and two sisters, Mary Mooreford and Jean Risk. 








There will be a graveside service for Anna at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Park Cemetery in Carthage.
