(From Fohn Funeral Home)Vida Jo Finch, age 88, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Aspire Senior Living Roaring River in Cassville, Missouri.
She was born March 25, 1938 near Avoca, Arkansas, the daughter of Jess and Joyce Johnson. From a very young age, Vida worked alongside her older brother doing difficult farm labor for their father to help support the family, while her mother cared for the home and raised Vida’s three younger siblings.
She went to school at Rogers, Arkansas until the 12th grade. She moved with family friends to St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated and met Walter Donald Finch. They married on September 15, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri and were happily married for 65 years until Walter passed away on December 12, 2021. They raised three children together, Steven Finch, the oldest, is deceased (April 19, 2019), Warren Finch is surviving with his wife, Nina, and Carmen Finch, the youngest, she is also deceased (May 18, 2024).
Vida has three surviving siblings, Dale Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Margaret Jump, and one deceased sibling, Sam Johnson. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ronnie, Christy, and Joe, and seven great grandchildren, Jared, Nathan, Xavier, Riley, Kaylin, AnnLynn, and Luca Donald.
Vida developed an interest in drawing at an early age and continued to nurture her artistic talents throughout her life. She expressed her creativity through drawing, painting, sculpting, and carving, leaving behind countless examples of her work. Her talent was recognized by others as well, earning her awards and inspiring people to seek out and cherish pieces of her art.
In her later years, Vida turned her attention to painting murals, often working alongside her sister, Margaret Jump. Their collaboration allowed Vida to share her love of art while creating lasting works that reflected her creativity, dedication, and artistic spirit.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Garfield, Arkansas, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. Thursday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Contributions may be made to Walnut Hill Cemetery in memory of Vida.
