Garnett Brown

Garnett Brown, 94, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on August 14, 2026, at Medicalodges of Frontenac surrounded by her family.

Garnett was born on February 13, 1932, to Offa and Vernice (Hulet) Jones in Pittsburg, KS. She attended Pittsburg Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School. On May 9, 1952, she was united in marriage to August Julius "Babe" Renn in Bentonville, AR. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1978. She then married Samuel M. Brown, Jr. on April 20, 1979, in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2009.

Garnett was the Head Housekeeper at Medicalodge North of Pittsburg for 30 years, retiring in 2002. Garnett enjoyed reading, needlepoint, her cats, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by four children, Shawn Brown (Barbara Koch) of Pittsburg, KS, Linda Wilson (Robert) of Weir, KS, Terrah Udock (Gary) of Oronogo, MO, and Melanie Ward (Ken) of Mulberry, KS; and her nieces, Leslie Jones and Michelle McClure (Michael), and nephews Ethan Jones and Nicholas Peak, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and other great nephew & nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, Lester Jones and Morris Jones and her nephew, Michael Jones.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will take place at the Garden of Memories. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM before the service at Brenner Mortuary. Memorial donations can be made to the S.E.K. Humane Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
