Norma Jean Young Putman of Bixby, Okla. stepped into the eternal rest of the Lord she loved and served on August 11, 2026. Her life was a quiet testimony — steady, prayerful and anchored in deep faith. Norma walked closely with God, and that closeness shaped every corner of her life.

She was an intercessor in the truest sense. When someone shared a burden, she carried those names straight to heaven. When someone needed comfort, she prayed until peace settled. Her prayers were never just words — they were acts of love, woven into the lives of family, friends and countless people who trusted her to stand with them before God. Norma’s faith was a gentle light, soft but unmistakable, touching everyone who crossed her path.

Born in Pittsburg, Kan. on June 24, 1936, and lived most of her adult life in Noel, Mo. Norma served in the Gravette, Ark. healthcare community, where she brought calm, compassion and the peace she carried to those facing pain and fear. She was known for her southern charm and a childlike sweetness that endeared her to everyone who met her.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Young Killion, of Heber Springs, Ark., brother-in-law William Vance Putman of Brentwood, Calif., along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Norma is also survived by her son, Jim Putman, and his wife, Chris Moser Putman, also of Bixby, Okla. who hold her life example close — to trust God deeply, to pray without hesitation and to love with quiet strength. Her legacy is not only remembered; it continues in the faith she nurtured and the prayers she faithfully lifted over her family and friends.

A service celebrating Norma’s life and faith will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home located at 100 Spring St., Anderson, Mo. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be in the Noel Cemetery beside her husband of 56 years, Fay Putman — reunited in the presence of the Lord, whole, joyful and wrapped in the glory she longed for all her life.

In lieu of flowers which die quickly, the family asks that gifts be made to Woodlake Church, 10444 South Mingo Road, Bixby, Okla. 74008 where the gifts can live on.
