Lance Seybold

Lance Kelly Seybold, age 76, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Lance was born on May 11, 1950, in Greensburg, Kansas, to Bill and Lorna (Koopman) Seybold. As a young child, his family relocated to Pittsburg, Kansas, where Lance grew up, attended school, and formed life-long roots.

Lance was previously married to Becky (Turner) Wick. From their union, they were blessed with two children, Kevin and Kim. A devoted single father, Lance selflessly raised his children on his own, instilling in them a strong work ethic, kindness, and integrity.

A hard worker with a passion for craftsmanship, Lance partnered with his brother, Jan Seybold, for many years to operate Seybold’s Body and Paint on East 4th Street in Pittsburg, KS. Later in life, after making his home in Joplin, Missouri, Lance turned his appreciation for unique things into a successful career as a professional "picker." He built a widely respected reputation specializing in vintage signs, classic gas pumps, antique clocks, and rare collectibles.

Lance inspired everyone around him with his strength, faith, and the remarkable story of his personal transformation. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son Kevin Seybold; grandchildren Austin (Desiree) Seybold, Aaron Seybold, Ashlyn Seybold, Lohgan (William) Rice, Karlee Blad, Kamrei Michael (Nick Hopkins); siblings Steve (Nancy) Seybold, Jan Seybold (Hunter Baima); great grandchildren Maddox File, Jonah File, Vitaly Seybold and Pyper Hopkins; and his nieces Angie (Kivo) Wilson, Heather (Dave) Knechtges, and Holly (Greg) Cranston. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Rosie, and cat, Libby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lorna Seybold, his daughter Kim Michael, and his brother Mike Kivo.

Per Lance’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:30-5:00pm at The Pitt, located at 516 N Broadway, Pittsburg, KS, 66762. (hosted by Kyle Michael, son-in-law, and Lance’s family). At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers please make charitable donations to Angels Among Us. Burial will take place in Mt.
