Pat Chapman

Pat Chapman, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home in Pierce City, MO with family by his side. He was born in Barry County, MO on Thursday, January 8, 1942; son of Harold and Alma (Witt) Chapman. He was a 1959 graduate of Pierce City High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He married Judy Roberson on Saturday, November 30, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. 

He retired after 42 years as a conductor for the railroad. He was also a life-time farmer working crops and managing his dairy farm. 






Pat planted sweet corn each year and gave it to his family and friends. He enjoyed taking rides to look at his crops with Judy and the grandchildren. He cherished time with his family and enjoyed watching them play sports. Pat loved to watch Tammy run hurdles and never missed a track meet. He was an avid supporter of Pierce City football. He played himself, all his boys played, and grandchildren played. He not only loved watching football but supported them by helping when he could and bought hats for the football players for over 20 years. Pat loved children and would buy coats, shoes, or gifts for those who were in need at Christmas.

Pat loved Jolly Mill. He served on the board for many years, moved the Chapman school down there, helped begin the restoration of the church and school, and served on the Jolly Bethel Cemetery Board. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Pat left the world a better place and will be missed by many!

Surviving are the following, his wife, Judy of Pierce City, MO; one daughter, Tammy (Dan) Reed of Strafford, MO; four sons, Steve ( fiancĂ©, Tricia Heidlage) Chapman of Pierce City, MO, Robert Chapman, Pierce City, MO, Russell (Shanna) Chapman of Purdy, MO and Jason (Dena) Chapman of Pierce City, MO; one nephew they raised, Brian Thurston of Monett, MO; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.B. (Joyce) Chapman and Fred (Cheryl) Chapman; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Jones and Cathy (Darrell) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 








Pat was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harold and Alma Chapman; two siblings, Robert Chapman and Betty Riddle; and a granddaughter, Hope Chapman.

Rosary service will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 5:30 PM. Visitation will follow until 8:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, August 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with Father Sanoop Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Jolly Bethel Cemetery in Pierce City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jolly Bethel Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
