Betty Daniel

Betty Daniel, 71, of Carl Junction, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at her home following a short illness. She was just a few days shy of celebrating her 72nd birthday.

Betty was born in Joplin, Missouri, on August 23, 1954, to parents Louis and Betty Foraker. She married her husband, Ron, on July 21, 2000, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and many valuable memories. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished her family deeply.

Betty found joy in the simple things in life. She loved taking walks with her beloved dog, Bear, spending time fishing, working in her garden and capturing special moments through her photography. She will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the memories she created, and the many lives she touched throughout her life.

Betty had a deep love for the outdoors and a remarkable passion for wildlife photography. She rarely went anywhere without her camera by her side, always ready to capture the beauty of nature and the wildlife she loved so much. She especially enjoyed photographing eagles, grizzly bears, elk, and the beautiful scenery around her.

Her passion for wildlife photography led to several remarkable accomplishments. In 2026, Betty became the first person to record a Leucistic Bald Eagle in Missouri, an incredibly rare sighting that was only the third recorded in the United States in the previous ten years. In 2024, She was the third person ever to record a Magnificent Frigatebird in Missouri.

Betty also had a lifelong love of fishing. In 2016, she caught an 18-pound, 7 ounce hybrid at Grand Lake, which at the time was the third-largest ever caught in Oklahoma. These accomplishments were a reflection of Betty's adventurous spirit, her patience, and her love for being outdoors.

Betty always said that whenever she saw an eagle, she thought of God first, and then her freedom. That sentiment captured so much of what she loved- the beauty of nature, the wonder of God's creations and the feeling of freedom she found in the outdoors. Her camera was often in her hands, but even more importantly, she carried those moments in her heart.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Ron; her beloved dog, Bear; her brother, Lou Foraker and his wife, Sue; her sister, Evelyn Wright; her three children, Jerrme Carpenter of Springfield, Missouri; Justin Carpenter of Grove, Oklahoma; and James Carpenter of Carthage, Missouri. She also leaves behind her 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and love with them for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jessie Foraker.

Though Betty's passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her memory will live on through her family, the moments they shared, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO. The family invites friends out for a time of visitation on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
