(From Herbert H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home)James William Chapman, 91, of Springfield, MO, passed away on August 11, 2026.
Born August 7, 1935, to James Reves and Helen Chapman. He grew up on a farm in Rocky Comfort, MO. James was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved sister, Judy Cook.
James proudly served in the Air Force and was called to active duty twice. He was a Buyer for Sears & Roebuck Co. for 40 years. On the side, he was a quality home builder, and a self-taught craftsman.
He took pride in doing things right the first time.
James and wife Linda shared a long life together of 65 years of marriage. Together they raised two daughters, Karen and Janet. James strived to provide for his family, to give them opportunities he never had himself.
He was a loving grandfather and enjoyed his time with his granddaughters.
James is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Karen and Janet; granddaughters Tiffany and Lindsey King; Brother-in-law Nelson Cook; Nephews Gary and Andy Cook.
