Peggy White

Funeral services for Peggy L. White of El Reno will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church with Benny Lockler and Lane Buckley officiating. The interment will be at the El Reno Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Peggy died August 21, 2026, in Yukon. She was born June 28, 1938, in Calumet to her parents, Raymond Herman and Myrtis Virginia (Lee) Stas. Peggy grew up and attended school in Calumet, graduating in 1956. She married Virgil White in 1956.

Peggy was a homemaker when her children were young. After they became school-aged, she began working at JCPenney Company in El Reno and retired after serving the company for many years in Oklahoma City.

Peggy was a member of the Red Hat Society and WIMU, as well as a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church. One of her greatest honors was overseeing the ministry of filling "Soldier Boxes" full of goodies to be sent at various times throughout the year to our men and women serving overseas. She also took it upon herself to keep up with the honor wall in the church sanctuary. Another thing that brought much joy to Peg was when she got together with her lady friends and played pitch each week.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil, and her two sons, Johnny Lee and Mitchell Ray.

Survivors include her sister, Mona Vandiver, and husband Ron. After Virgil's passing, Ron lovingly took on the role of "chief handyman" and confidant to Peggy. He was always there to lend a hand with whatever Peggy needed done around the home and property, and he and Mona became a steadfast source of friendship and companionship to her.

Additional survivors include her daughters, Dona Stribel and husband Gary of Marlow, Patti Whitcraft and husband Dean of Neosho, MO, grandchildren Cristi Medlin and husband Dana; Ali Ortega and husband Ty; Carrie Eaves and husband Mikey; Dustin Stribel; Bryan Whitcraft; Lisa Schade and husband Mark; Carrie Kennedy and husband Steven; Casey Brown and husband Kendall; 15 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 500 N. Reformatory Road, El Reno, OK 73036.
