Gary Kyger

Gary Lynn Kyger ended his journey on Earth on August 25, 2026. Gary was born the 7th of 8 brothers on August 4, 1944, to Edward Herald Kyger and Fern Helen Fullerton Kyger in Diamond, Missouri.

Gary’s work life included a foreman in construction, a draftsman in designing houses and churches, and manager of properties in the states of Missouri, Arkansas, and Wyoming. Gary’s greatest joys were playing guitar with friends, providing music for churches and nursing homes, and playing with his two great grandsons, Riff and Kolter. 







Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Herald, Bob, Rev J.B, Don, Louie, and Naaman. 

He is survived by his brother, Johnny Kyger (Diana) of Carthage, Missouri; his daughter, Tara Kyger of Carl Junction, Missouri; his grandson, Brayden (Kaycia) of Joplin, Missouri; two great grandsons, Kolter and Riff; many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Barbara Goulding of Joplin, Missouri. 

In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Goodman Baptist Church (Goodman, Missouri), Calvary Baptist Church (Carthage), or FORCE Community Center (Joplin). 








There will be a funeral service for Gary at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage. The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM the evening before on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will take place at Dudman Springs Cemetery in Carthage, immediately following the service.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
