Harold Holder

Harold Gene Holder was born on September 6, 1936 to Lionel James & Inez Evangeline Holder. He went to his eternal home on August 25, 2019.

He married Gladys Fern Holder on July 20, 1957 in Cedar County, Missouri. To this union, 4 children were born, to boys and 2 girls.

He is survived by his children Earl Holder / Tammy, Jerico Springs, James Holder / Crystal from ElDorado Springs, Diana Swartz / Craig, from Lamar Missouri and Louise Reynolds / James, Jerico Springs, Missouri, brother Roy Holder from Liberal. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren .

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Holder in 2007. His parents two sisters, three brothers, and his daughter-in-law Jana Holder.

He was a construction worker out of labor local 663 out of Kansas City. He ran S & H filling station from 1982-2007. He then retired and loved hunting rabbits and squirrels. He loved fishing and camping with his family.

Funeral services will be held at Bland-Brumback Funeral Home in Stockton, Wednesday August 28th at 2:00 PM, Visitation Tuesday August 27th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Mildred Tate

Mildred Irene Tate, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.

Mildred was born October 12, 1940 in Joplin, daughter of the late Charles and Maggie (Carr) Cupp. She grew up in the Spring City area, and attended school in Spring City. She worked several jobs in the Joplin area, most recently she worked for Tyson's Chicken in Neosho from which she retired.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, B.J. Sisney, husband, Jack Tate, Sr., a son, Dennis Tate, and a daughter, Alicia Tate Harris.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Tate, Jack V. Tate, Jr. and wife Robin of Carl Junction, Elmer D. Tate, Jesse David Tate, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Tate all of Joplin; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at her home.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Geraldine Owens

Geraldine Lois Owens, 81, formerly of Neosho, MO entered into rest August 25, 2019 in Denison, Texas.

Geraldine was born March 30, 1938 in Neosho to Clyde and Mae (Clark) Owens. She was a homemaker and enjoyed ceramics, reading, and being with her grandchildren. 

Geraldine is survived by two children, Brenda Hartline of Denison, TX and Connie Diane Isaacs of Noel, MO; one sister, Deloris Jeffrey of Neosho, MO; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. 

Services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, MO; Reverend Ron Crow will officiate. Interment will follow at Gibson Cemetery, Neosho.

Wes Gilstrap

Westly “Wes” Ray Gilstrap, age 42, of Webb City, Mo passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at his sister's home in Duenweg, Mo surrounded by family.

Mr. Gilstrap, son of Michael Gilstrap and Becky (Bradbury) Plank, was born on January 11, 1977 in Joplin. Wes grew up and attended school in Carl Junction. He loved spending time with his family, being the joker of the family. He always had a positive attitude. He enjoyed conversing with people and his conversations included his quick wit and humor. He loved to make people laugh, and always had a new joke to tell. He enjoyed reading, listening to music and watching his favorite teams, Steelers, Chiefs, and Alabama Crimson Tide football. 

Survivors include his daughters, Allanis and Alexsis Plank, of Brewton, AL; his mother and step-father, Becky and Kirby Plank, of Brewton, AL; one sister, Carrie Ann Christenson, of Duenweg, MO; maternal grandmother, Beverly Bradbury, of Webb City, MO; two nieces Ashley Komma, and her husband, Zak, of Joplin, MO, and Amber Swager, of Carl Junction; and great niece and nephews, Raven, Phoenix, and Vincent.

Wes was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Bradbury, and his father, Michael Gilstrap.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with the family to receive friends following the service on Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the organization of donor choice and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Janet Oster

Janet Hansen Oster, 85, Joplin, entered into her eternal rest on August 23, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following an illness. 

Janet was born March 14, 1934 in Primrose, Nebraska, the daughter of Gerald and Loyal (Lyons) Hansen. She lived most of her life in the southwest Missouri area and had owned and operated 4 C’s Ceramics. She enjoyed being with her family, the outdoors, fishing, and camping. She and her husband raised collies for many years. She was a member of the Webb City Christian Church and she loved the Lord. 

Janet and Charles E. Oster were married on Nov. 8, 1953 in Overland Park, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2011. 

She is survived by three children, Tim Oster and wife, Cindy of Joplin; Cheryl Davis and husband, Jimmy of Joplin and Carey Oster and wife, Shirley of Joplin; son-in-law, Kyle Randall of Webb City; two brothers, Harry Hansen of Neosho and Michael Hansen and wife, Patricia of South Carolina; one sister, Francis Willis and husband, Robert of Neosho; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Mark and a daughter, Loretta.

Butch Kuhn

Larry (Butch) W. Kuhn, 79, lifelong Seneca resident passed into eternal rest August 22, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.

Larry Wayne Kuhn was born December 7, 1939 in Seneca, MO the son of Thomas (Gus) Kuhn and Helen (Bettis) Kuhn. Butch as he was known around the area had lived on the same property in rural Seneca over 50 years. He worked for the former BF Goodrich plant in Miami, OK. He then went to work at Joplin Building Material until he retired in 2002. He was a Navy Veteran serving from 1963 to 1965. Butch loved spending time with his grandchildren, running his chainsaw, working in the yard, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and working with his hands, on woodworking projects. Butch was a member of the Joplin Road Runners for 26 years and he was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Seneca, MO.

Larry Wayne Kuhn married Leona DeLynn White August 21, 1960 in Seneca, MO and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Lenny Kuhn and wife Teresa, Hooks, TX and Wes Kuhn and wife Carmen, Racine, MO; two brothers, Thomas Kuhn and wife Patty, Seneca, Dennis (Denny) Kuhn and wife Judy, Wyandotte, OK; one sister Phyllis Davis, Seneca, MO; four grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Thomas (Gus) and Helen Kuhn; one infant brother Morris Gale Kuhn; one grandson, Caleb Kuhn and one brother-in-law Leslie (Lad) Davis.

The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO. The family will be holding a private memorial service.

Tenny Wells

Lucille “Tenny” Wells, age 75, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, August 22, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Tenny was born September 1, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Aaron Lovell and Jean (Wilson) Lovell.

Tenny married Nelson Wells on June 8, 1962 in Vandalia, Illinois; he survives. Tenny enjoyed crocheting and baking, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace Pointe Assembly of God Church in Carthage.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Heather Worley (Daniel), Carthage, and Mary Young (Andy), Carthage; two sons, James Wells (Rene), Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and Aaron Wells (Mary), Carthage; three brothers, Aaron Lovell, Jim Lovell, and Bob Lovell; thirteen grandchildren, Nelson, Ronnie, James Hunter, Jack and Victoria Wells; Margaret Cooper, Aaron and Jim Wells; Tommy James, David and Johnny Mullen; Heather and Tracy Young; and ten great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Myer Lovell; two sisters, Mary Lovell and Margie Mesker; and two grandchildren, Faith Mullen and Tenny Mullen.

Visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Monday, August 26, 2019 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Knell Mortuary.
