Doralee Gilion

Doralee Gilion, 76 of Anderson, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 after a long illness at the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson with her loving family by her side.

Doralee was born on March 20, 1943 in Anderson, MO to the late Leland Leslie and Josephine (Wallain) Harp. Doralee lived in the Anderson area her entire life and graduated from Anderson High School.

 On March 16, 1962 she was united in marriage to Billy Gilion in Anderson and to this union one child was born. Doralee worked as the executive director of the McDonald County Nursing Home for 30 years and was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Anderson where she volunteered as the Sunday School Director for many years. Doralee enjoyed shopping, traveling and watching her granddaughter play softball.

Doralee is survived by her husband of 56 years; Billy Gilion of the home, a son; Jamey Gilion and wife Millie of Neosho and a granddaughter; Ashley Gilion, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doralee Gilion will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Pastor Michael Buckley officiating. Those serving as pallbearers are; Jerry Don Cooper, Roger Newell, Rick Holly, Brent Gilion, Dallas Gilion and Jeremy Gilion. Honorary pallbearers are; Robert Harp, Jason Harp, Jared Darity and Kyle Darity. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, MO. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson in memory of Doralee. Geneva Marshall

Geneva Mae Marshall, 81, of Oronogo, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Geneva was born January 29, 1938, in Purcell, Missouri, to the union of the late Ralph Everett and Lottie Mae (Cooper) Alumbaugh. She graduated from Alba High School in 1955. Geneva obtained a Business Degree in Accounting, which led to a 40-year career as an accountant for Smith Brothers Manufacturing. She also owned and operated her own business, Marshall Tax Service.

Geneva was kind and loving, stern when necessary, strong beyond imagination, tough as an old boot and humorous to distraction. She raised her children single-handedly and always provided for their every need. Geneva loved her family through and through and she will be greatly missed.

On August 22, 1975, she was united in marriage to Ervin Marshall and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1989.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Richard Lloyd Rea (surviving spouse, Carolyn Rea) and Cynthia Rea; and seven siblings, Marion Alumbaugh, Loyde Alumbaugh, Marybelle “Katherine” Pierce, Lester Alumbaugh, Larry Alumbaugh, Terry Alumbaugh and Ronald Alumbaugh.

Survivors include four children, Theresa Rea-Branham-Carver (John), Anthony Earl Rea, Sheryl Jean Rea-Williams (Robert) and John Robert Rea (Cindy); 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Williams; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Geneva will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastors Matt Derfelt and Chip Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Purcell, Missouri. The family will receive friends for visitation at 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the mortuary.

Bill Townsend

Billy Ray “Bill” Townsend, age 80, of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019, at his home.

Bill was born on May 30, 1939, in Waco, Missouri, to the union of the late Raymond and Anna (Rainey) Townsend. He was a 1957 graduate of Webb City High School. Bill was a career over-the-road truck driver. He worked for several transportation companies over the years including Jones Truck Lines from 1977-1985 and Dyno Nobel, which took him to 48 states and also to Canada. There was never a truck Bill couldn’t drive.
Aside from work, Bill was the definition of a family man. He loved his family and provided for their every need. Bill enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, pheasant hunting, bowling and spoiling his great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved by his family and he will be missed beyond compare.

On May 28, 1983, Bill was united in marriage to Drusilla “Dru” Baugher and together they shared 36 years. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his son, Michael Townsend (Kenda), of Joplin; two grandchildren, Zachary and Nakota Kay; five great-grandchildren, Gracie Olivia, Ava Jean, Harper Leigh, Aralynne Grace and Hadley Louise; his sister, Betty Hunt (Richard) of Webb City; his brother, Dan Townsend, of Webb City; his sister-in-law, Peggy Sue Baugher, of Webb City; and his niece, Shannon Sumner (David); as well a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sherri Lynne; his brother, Donald Wayne Townsend; and a grandson, Kevin.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastor Charlie Burnett and Pastor Donna Mikhail officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Mark Brumley

Mark David Brumley, age 49, of Granby, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born October 5, 1970 in Neosho, Missouri the son of William “Bill” and Sue (Harvey) Brumley. On August 4, 2013 he was united in marriage to Tina Chute, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Tyler Palmquist of New Ulm, Minnesota, Brandon Palmquist of St. James, Minnesota and Donavon Palmquist and his wife Bailey of Stacyville, Iowa; one daughter, Melissa Hamsmith and her husband Robert of Ringsted, Iowa; one brother, William Brumley and his wife Nicie of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Kristi Laxton of Rocky Comfort, Missouri and Keri Pilcher of Stella, Missouri and eleven grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Scott Brumley.

Mark graduated from McDonald County High School and then attended Crowder College and received his bachelor’s degree from Missouri Southern State University. He worked at various companies throughout his life which included La-Z-Boy, Ramey’s, Braum’s and Toys R Us.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Fox Cemetery in Powell, Missouri under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton, Missouri. Pastor John Mehrens will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. Thursday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Jenna Gess

Jenna Vee Gess was born March 15th, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri. She entered into rest on October 22nd, 2019 at home in Carthage, Missouri at 70 years old.

Jenna worked at a few odd jobs in her lifetime, but her most favorite was taking care of and raising her 10 children, whom she loved so much. Jenna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Gerald Gess, whom she married June 10th, 1982. She is also preceded by her mother Juanita Davis and father Jack Hutchison. 

Jenna is survived by her brother David Hutchison of Carthage, her sons, Jim Gess of Joplin, Ronnie Gess of Joplin, Eric Shepherd and wife Maylee of Kansas City, Justin Shepherd and wife Yvonne of Joplin, Dustin Gess and wife Angela of McCune Kansas, Andrew Gess and wife Carrie of Joplin, Darren Gess and wife Lori of Vinita Oklahoma, Joshua Gess and wife Katelyn of Carthage, and Brandon Gess of Joplin. She is also survived by her daughters, Marna Carver of Joplin, Jamie Gess of Fort Myers Florida, Amber Gess of Carthage, along with many grandchildren, a great grandchild, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 24th, 2019 from 6pm-7pm in the chapel of the Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. 

Funeral services will be held the following day Friday October 25th, 2019 at 10am in the chapel of the Simpson Funeral Home followed by graveside at Osborne Cemetery.

Neil Albright

Neil J. Albright, age 61, Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Mercy Hospital of Joplin.

Neil was born February 22, 1958, Bartlesville, Oklahoma to parents Jimmy Albright and Lesta Albright Oliver. Neil enjoyed all his secondary school years in the Putnam City School System, Oklahoma City competing in football, baseball, wrestling & track & field. He graduated in 1976, and attended the University of Oklahoma before joining the family oil service business.

In 1993, Neil opened Simply Southwest in Tulsa; a southwestern clothing/jewelry store. Most recently he was employed at Simmons Food, Southwest City, Missouri.

Neil was preceded in death by his father, brother Wade Albright, stepdad, Glen Oliver, & stepsister Kerry Dickenson.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Taylor Albright, daughter, Ashley Givray (Al); grandsons, Jamison Tanner & Charles of Tulsa; mother Lesta Oliver; brother Kyle Albright (Kathy) & family, nephew Adam Albright (Doni) & family, niece Chotsie Barnes (Tyler) & family, stepbrother, Keith Oliver (Carrie) all of Oklahoma City, stepsister, Dale Reid, Cushing, Oklahoma. Neil’s loving family includes uncle Milton Labadie, aunt Annetta Robertson, and all his special cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Neil’s life will be held at Cayuga Splitlog Mission Church, Grove, OK, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:30 am with Tyler Barnes officiating.

Joe Burton

Joseph “Joe” William Burton, age 57, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at his home.

He was born January 15, 1962 in Springdale, Arkansas, the son of Thomas and Juanita (Vaughn) Burton. Joe grew up and received his education in Springdale. In 1979 he moved to Cassville, Missouri to make his home. For several years he worked as a machinist at R & W Machine Shop in Cassville. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing and camping.

Surviving are one son, Jessie Burton of Cassville, Missouri; three daughters, Celiste Burton of Blue Eye, Missouri, Kimberly Sturgell of Aurora, Missouri and Jamie Farris of Colorado; one brother, Tommy Burton of Joplin, Missouri; one sister, Janie Woods of Rogers, Arkansas; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Joseph Daniel.

Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
