Don Johnson

Don G. Johnson was born Nov. 17, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of D. and Lois (Macy) Johnson. He entered into rest with his family by his side on April 9, 2017 at his home in Neosho at the age of 68. 

 Don moved to Neosho in 1966 from Wichita, Kansas and soon afterwards began his career in printing at the Neosho Daily News. In 1970, moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma where he briefly worked at a dairy farm and at the Oklahoma Publishing Company. In 1976, he returned to Neosho and began working at the Neosho Daily News until 1981, when he and his family moved to Pocahontas County, West Virginia where he worked at Elkins Intermountain Newspaper. He returned home to Neosho in 1987 and worked at the Joplin Globe, McDonald County Press, and the Neosho Daily News. Don loved to play ping-pong and pick blackberries to give to others. He loved to smile and his smile was contagious. All who knew him knew he loved to tease. He was a member of the Church of God in Neosho. 

 Don and Lana (Lasiter) were married on Feb. 17, 1968 in Neosho and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Sorrell and husband, Dale of Guthrie, OK and Lori Cole and husband, Ronald of Neosho; two brothers, Jimmy Johnson of Neosho and Lloyd Johnson of Hollister, MO; two sisters, Jerry Dody of Portland, OR and Barbara Sisk of Leon, KS and four grandchildren, Morgan and Paige Sorrell and Kendra and Bretton Cole. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny Johnson. 

 Services for Don will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Pastors Paul Cole and Jerry Melot will officiate. Interment will follow in the Gibson Cemetery and those serving as pallbearers will be Bretton Cole, Brent Cole, Jim Cole, Jeremy Booher, Brook Cole, and Jacob Hightower. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Due to health issues, the family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Don Johnson expense fund, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
