Marion Coleman

Marion N. Webb Coleman, age 94, Joplin, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at her home after an illness.

Marion was born August 24, 1922 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma to the late Marion Clyde Webb and Dola L. Puryear Webb and had lived in Joplin for several years, moving from Neosho.

She worked as a school teacher at the former Reagan Elementary School, south of Neosho for several years. Marion went back to school and became certified with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, serving as a supervisor in the lab at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Oak Hill Hospital and the former Cardwell Memorial Osteopathic Hospital in Stella, Missouri. She also served as a teacher to lab students while at St. John's.

Marion was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Neosho; the Professional Business Women's Association; the Missouri State University Alumni Association; several square dance clubs and bowling leagues and enjoyed international travel with her husband. She will be missed by all that knew her.

She married Edward Walter Coleman on June 18, 1943 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2012.

Survivors include three daughters, Diane Giltner and husband, Ron, Joplin, Cynthia Price and husband, Steve, Seattle, Washington, Jan Orban and husband, Tim, Clinton, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Graveside services are planned for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, south of Neosho. Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society or to the Missouri State University Foundation, both in care of Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
