Jerry Beach

Jerry E. Beach, 80, of Arcola, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO after a 6 month battle with cancer.

He was born on April 2, 1937 to Gerald and Leona (Cooper) Beach. After graduating from Greenfield High School in 1955, he found a job at the Union Station in Kansas City working as a mail and baggage handler for 10 ½ years. Jerry then worked at TWA for 29 years as a stores clerk delivering parts. Upon retiring, he and his wife June moved back to Dade County where they built a house 3 miles east of Arcola.

On April 26, 1958, Jerry married June Freeze, a Dadeville graduate, and they were blessed to spend almost 59 years together. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ in Grandview, MO and after moving back to the area has been a member of the Bona Church of Christ for the past 20 years.

Jerry spent all his life being a devoted husband and family man. In his K.C. years, he loved coaching his boys in baseball, as well as helping many other kids learn the sport. He also had fun playing fast pitch softball with his three sons into his 50’s.

When he retired to Dade County, he enjoyed cattle farming with his brother and playing golf in the Lockwood league with his golfing buddies. All his life he enjoyed the outdoors and had many hunting and fishing stories. Jerry was also very proud of all his grandkids and their accomplishments. Whatever he was doing, he always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Leona Beach; two nephews, Jackie Freeze and Robert Beach; and one great-nephew, Caleb Freeze.

Survivors include his wife, June Beach of the home; three sons, Gary Beach and wife Laura of Carthage; Mickey Beach and wife Martha of Brookfield, and Joe Dee Beach and wife Trish of Arcola; eight grandchildren, Britney Jones and husband Jimmy of Blue Springs, Mickey Beach Jr. and wife Brittain of Blue Springs, Shelby Beach of Columbia, Shanie Beach of Arcola, Tricia Cleveland of Brookfield; Amanda Cleveland of Colorado Springs, CO, Kyla Robertson of Ada, OK, and Jason Robertson of Kansas City; and one great-granddaughter, Cora Jones of Blue Springs. He is also survived by three brothers, Larry Beach and wife Vera of Arcola, Terry Beach and wife Mary Ellen of Strafford, and Danny Beach and wife Martha of Kansas City; and three brothers-in-law, Jack Freeze and wife Lorene of Dadeville, Jimmy Freeze and wife Sandra of Dadeville, and Joe Freeze and wife Sharon of Fair Play.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Bona Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Bona Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Children’s Home or to the donor’s choice.
