George Dale Erwin, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin. George was born May 13, 1938 in Carthage to Thomas Loren Erwin and Melba Pearl “Harned” Erwin. He was a lifetime resident of Carthage, worked at Safeway and Consumers, along with some work in pest control. George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the local Masonic Lodge.
George is survived by two sons: George Erwin, Jr. of Carthage and Doug Erwin of California, three brothers: Charles Erwin, Bob Erwin and Bill Erwin, two grandsons: Zachary Lauren Cameron Johnson and Tyler Lane Erwin, and one granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Erwin.
George is preceded in death by one brother, Buddy Richard Erwin, and one sister, Betty Darlene Erwin.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
