Gloria Skelton

Gloria J. Skelton was born May 30, 1949 in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of Paul Kelley, Sr. and Mary C. (Huffman) Kelley. She entered into rest on April 12, 2017 in Neosho, following a sudden illness. 

 Gloria was a lifelong area resident and former elementary teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Joplin, Missouri for 20 years, retiring in 2013. She was a member of the Newcomers Club , enjoyed horseback riding, having fun and being with her grandbabies. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. 

 Gloria and Ray Skelton were married on October 7, 1967 at the Newtonia Baptist Church and he survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Kelly Peters and husband, Robert of Neosho; three grandchildren, Makayla Peters, Hannah Teas and Kaden Skelton; one brother, Paul Kelley, Jr. and wife, Connie of Neosho and two sisters, Sharon Nunn and husband, Max of Seneca and Carol Plumlee and husband, Lonnie of Neosho. She is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Skelton and her parents. 

 Services for Gloria will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 1 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Lee Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Newtonia IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Robert Peters, Kaden Skelton, Donnie Percival, Matthew Percival, Adam Percival and Jeff Nunn. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Saturday prior to the service from noon until service time. Contributions in memory of Gloria may be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
