Howard “Doc” J. Pendley, 78, passed away January 8, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Carthage. Howard was born March 8, 1939 in Joplin, Missouri.
Doc was raised in Joplin, then served 22 years in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant and an aircraft electronics mechanic. After his service, he moved to Carl Junction, then later to Carthage.
Doc was united in marriage to Kandis “Ball” January 1, 1995 in Joplin; she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Mitchell and husband Jeff of Carthage, Lesley Van Volkinburg and husband Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Marcia McCullah and husband Tom of Arlington, Washington, Tracy Parsons and husband Mike of Columbus, Kansas; two sisters, Linda Donohue of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Millie Prince of Joplin, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Doc was preceded in death by daughter Lori Flood in 2014; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Dennis; three sisters, Marie, Alice and Betty.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
