Andrew Whiteley

Andrew Jackson “Jack” Whiteley, 87, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at his home in Carthage. Andrew was born October 10, 1930 in Afton, OK to Robert and Florence “Bryant” Whiteley.

Andrew served as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Among the medals awarded him were the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the President Unit Citation.

Andrew was a longtime resident of Carthage and was employed by Carthage Marble and Fred’s Frozen Foods. He was a dedicated member of Three Point Full Gospel Church in Brooklyn Heights. Andrew loved to fish, especially for catfish; Grand Lake was his favorite fishing hole.

Andrew was united in marriage to Jeneda “Bryant” on August 23, 1952 in Bentonville, AR; she survives.

Andrew is also survived by two sons, Douglas Whiteley and wife Pam, Jacky Whiteley and wife Freda; two daughters, Cheryl Strait and husband Dennis, Marilyn Dunham and husband Rich; one brother, Robert Whiteley, Jr.; three sisters, Martha Bowers, Myrtle Jones and Margret Shoemaker; eight grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Andrew was preceded in death by one son, Gary Whiteley, and two sisters, Lily Oakly and Mary Whiteley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.
