Marlos Lovett

Marlos A. Lovett, age 79, of Joplin, passed away on Monday June 4, 2018, at Freeman Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Marlos was born on April 12, 1939, in Barton County, Mo., the daughter of the late Lindell W. and Gladys Jones. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1956 and then attended Iola Junior College and MSSC. She lived in various cities, including Charles City, Ia., before settling in Joplin in 1970. She worked in administrative management and human resources at Safeway Bakery followed by F.A.G. Bearings, Inc., for many years, before retiring in 2003. She was a member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church of Joplin. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to travel.

Marlos married the love of her life, Ken Lovett, on March 28, 1983, in Miami, Ok., and he survives. Additional survivors include her children; Pamela Sharp and husband Todd, Wentzville, Mo., Carrie Weiser and her husband Josh, The Woodlands, Tx., Kenny Lovett, Brevard, Nc., Kristy Somerton, South Daytona, Fl., and Keith Lovett and wife Stacy, Brevard, Nc.; granddaughter, Misty Chiu and husband Steven, Hastings-On-Hudson, Ny.; grandchildren, Devon Sharp, Nicholas Sharp, Nathan England, Megan Sichts, Jackson Weiser, Korey Lovett, Kelsey Lovett, Kody Lovett, Kayla Lovett, Kyleigh Somerton, Cole Somerton, Kyle Lovett, and Kaitlin Lovett; great-grandchildren, Ella, Grayson, Cooper, Hazel, and Hailley; and a sister, Beverly Nothnagel and husband, Jim.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Harrison, Scott Jones, Dorothy White, Jean Kunkler, Darlene Wood, Darrel Jones, and Russel Jones; and daughters, Teresa Hoffman and Kathy Lovett.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Pastor Chris Sloan will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be given to the Melanoma Research Foundation in care of the mortuary, in memory of Marlos’ late daughter, Terri , whom she missed every day.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
