Gary Spear, age 67, of Webb City, Missouri passed away Thursday June 14, 2018 following several months of declining health.
He was born September 24, 1950 in Parsons, Kansas to William Alfred and Norma Lee (Malson) Spear.
Gary worked at Midwest Machinery for many years and then for 14 years as a custodian with the Webb City R-VII School District. He enjoyed NASCAR and being with his family and friends. He was a positive influence on many students and faculty he had the privilege to be involved with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He married Trudy McCreary on March 27 1987 and she survives of the home. Gary is also survived by four children Cary Lee Spear (Debbie) Jasper, Missouri, Kathy Lynn McCane (Mark) Joplin, Missouri, Brad Allen Spear (Jennifer) Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heidi Jo Marbut, Webb City, Missouri; one brother, Hollis Spear (Patricia) Grove, Oklahoma, one sister, Loretta Morris (George) Reeds, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday June 18, 2018 at the Carterville Christian Church with Robin Sigars officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 -4:00 pm Sunday at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are, Jerry Wilson, Jim Bottles, Jeff Hickman, Jeff Montgomery, Tiffany Cox and Ken Dodd.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the Webb City R-VII Schools Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home Webb City, Missouri.
