Reta Daugherty

Reta Colleen Daugherty of Pittsburg, KS formerly of Fairland, OK passed from this life Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Medicalodge of Pittsburg in Pittsburg, KS. She was 82.

Colleen was born December 2, 1935 in Columbus, KS to William and Dimple (Nixon) Johnson. She had lived in the Pittsburg and Columbus area for the past 8 years, moving from Fairland, OK. Colleen graduated from Picher High School Class of 1954. She worked for the Court Clerk’s Office at Ottawa County Courthouse in Miami, OK, a floral designer for Duff’s Miami Floral in Miami and Howard’s Floral and Garden Center in Commerce. She also had worked at Cheek Auto in Miami and was a bus driver for Commerce School System. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairland.

Colleen loved to garden, paint, sew, motorcycle, sing and go to church activities.

Colleen married John Daugherty November 29, 1954 and he preceded her February 21, 2004, she was also preceded by a daughter Brenda Nation January 11, 2010, her parents, and her siblings Johnny Johnson, Jewel Boggs, Irene Johnson and Betty June Johnson and an infant brother.

Survivors include her son John Q. Daugherty, Jr. and wife Macki of Fairland, OK, 2 daughters Linda Garrow of Pittsburg, KS and Janet Buzzard and husband Todd of Tahlequah, OK, her brother Jimmy Johnson and wife Mickey of Quapaw, OK, her sister Fae Ann Moreland and husband Arnold of Neosho, MO, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Fairland, OK. Rev. Carole Minter will officiate.
