Kenneth Larry Taunton, age 80, Joplin, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home after a sudden illness.
Ken was born October 1, 1937 in Jasper, Missouri, son of the late Verne W. Taunton and Nova Howard Taunton. He worked as a medical specialist with the Lab at Freeman Hospital in Joplin for over 30 years prior to retiring this year. Ken was also a Navy Veteran, serving from 1957 through 1962.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sue Fingerle Taunton, who died April 20, 2018.
Survivors include her sister, Marcia J. Gehman and husband Nathan of Sun City Center, Florida; nephews, Troy Dyska of Belleville, Michigan, and Greg Dyska of Scranton, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, K. Bruce Fingerle of Montgomery, Texas.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Jeff D. Martin officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
