Judy was born January 24, 1933, in Osawatomie, Kansas, to the late Walter and Margaret (Weigand) Robohn. She was a 1951 graduate of Burlington High School. Following high school, she received her Nursing Degree from St. Mary’s, a Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri Southern, and later received her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State.
Judy was united in marriage to Raymond J. Birk and together they had three children. She and Raymond owned and operated two restaurants – Spring River Inn in Riverton and Roundhouse Restaurant in Joplin. Raymond preceded her in death in 1988.
Several years later, Judy married Col. Bill J. Tutin, and he also preceded her in death.
Judy was a devoted Catholic and always strong in her faith. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joplin for over 50 years. She enjoyed gatherings with friends and family and was an avid Bridge player. Judy also enjoyed golf and listening to opera music. She was patriotic and very proud of her country. Above all, Judy loved her family deeply and they were most important to her. She touched many lives and her legacies will live on through those that know and love her.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Judy was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
Survivors include three children, Philip Birk (Marina) of Lenexa, Kansas, Peter Birk (Sarah) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Ann Birk of Joplin; three grandchildren, Charles, Caroline and Ruth Ann; a great-grandson, Roman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. J. Friedel officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at 9:00 Wednesday at the church followed by the Rosary at 10:00. Burial of ashes will take place privately at Calvary Cemetery in Burlington, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Joplin Area Catholic Schools in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
