Sherry Lafave

Sherry Lou Lafave (Tracy), age 59, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin due to sudden illness.

On March 18, 1961, Sherry was born in Boston, MA to Martha Drennan, the late John Tracy and survived by her stepfather, John Drennan. Not long after, her family moved to the Joplin area where she resided and raised her two daughters. 

She was a graduate of Missouri Southern State University where she received her bachelor’s in Business Administration to pursue her Human Resources career. From there she continued to attain her master’s degree from Florida Metropolitan University. 








In September of 2011 she was united in marriage to Mark Lafave. Together they enjoyed traveling and designing do it yourself projects. She had the gift of sewing and scrapbooking. Her favorite title was grandma and she loved to be involved and spend as much time as she could with each of them. Her goal in life was to raise her daughters to be successful, strong and independent women. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who’s smile, giggle and funny mannerisms will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Lafave, of Joplin; two daughters, Jennifer Phillips, and her fiancĂ©, Dennis Artinger, of Joplin, and Shannan Stafford, and her husband, Bobby, of Carthage; one brother, Terry Norman Tracy, and wife Marsha, of Stillwater, OK; one sister, Elizbeth Ann Rissmiller, of Joplin; two step-children, Ryan Lafave, of Kansas City, and Ashley Kinney, and her husband, Joe, of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren, Zachary Phillips, Brianna Phillips, Maddison Adams, Mason Adams, Austin Phillips, Coy Stafford, Ashlynn Artinger, Cameron Parks, and Caden Kinney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

In addition to her father, John Tracy, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Velma Tracy.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with Charles Stillman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service time. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
