Ruby Haile

(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)

Ruby Alice (Freeman) Haile, age 90, passed away at her home in rural Lamar, on Sunday August 30, 2020. Ruby was born in rural Barry County on April 4, 1930 to Charles and Martha (Taylor) Freeman.

Growing up near Aurora, MO, Ruby was taught to sew as a child and it grew into both her career and her hobby. As a young adult, she worked as a seamstress in a garment factory in Reed Springs, MO for several years.

In 1959, she married Claston Junior Kelley and together they had two daughters. That marriage ended in divorce in 1967 and she later moved to Lamar, MO where she married Robert Haile on August 15, 1975. There she continued life as a seamstress and homemaker for the next 35 years until Robert’s death in 2010.

She loved the simpler things of life, enjoying nature, fishing, crocheting, reading, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her family who she loved dearly. Ruby was a devoted loving wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, kind-hearted, and a woman of integrity.

She is survived by her daughter Gayla (Gary) Charlton of Liberal, MO; brother Melvin “Kenny” Freeman of Purdy, MO; sister-in-law Abilee Freeman of Marionville, MO; grandchildren, Erica Little of Nixa, MO; Dustin (Caroline) Charlton of Carterville, MO; and Hollie (Kyle) Estes of Ozark, MO; great-grandchildren, Natasha Little of Nixa, MO; and Shay Olabiyi of Carterville, MO. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Robert “Bobby” (Yvonne) Haile, Marilyn Hurst, LuAnn (Brent) Lock, all of Lamar, MO, and Ruth (Joe) Barry of Omaha, NE, and many step-grand and great grandchildren.
