(From Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home)William J. “Bill” Walton, 82, of Webb City, Missouri, and a former resident of Oswego and Burlington, passed away at his home at 3:08 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2021.
He was born on June 9, 1938, to Leo James and Mabel Vance (Siehndel) Walton on the family farm near Newton, Kansas, where he grew up and attended school. In 1955 he graduated from Newton High School.
Following high school, Bill joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1956 to 1962. While stationed in Fortland, Missouri, he met Louean Kincannon and the couple were married on June 27, 1959. The couple made their home in Newton, while Bill worked for KG&E in Wichita.
In 1976, the family moved to Oswego when Bill went to work at the Neosho Plant with KG&E. He was transferred in 1985 to work at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Plant in Burlington, Kansas, until his retirement in 1995. The couple lived in Burlington until moving to Webb City, Missouri, in 2020, to be closer to family.
Bill attended the First Baptist Church of Burlington. He was a member of the Adams Masonic Lodge # 63 AF & AM in Oswego and also a member of the Masonic Lodge #66 AF & AM in Burlington. A dedicated father, he was a scoutmaster and coached little league baseball, when his children were young. He enjoyed bowling and golf and participated in leagues in both until his health prevented it. One of his favorite activities was hunting, especially with his dogs, Dixie and Gidget.

One daughter-in-law – Debi Walton
Five grandchildren – Travis Walton (Kasey); Robert Littlejohn and his daughter, Kynni; Kelsey Littlejohn; Scott Hensley (Jenee); and Shannon Linn (Jerry)
Seven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mike Walton, on December 15, 2010; two sisters, Bonnie Sheffler and Virginia Scheffler
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons officiated by Rev. Jay Hale and with Masonic Rites being given by the Altamont Lodge # 69 AF & AM. Burial will follow at the Oswego Cemetery in Oswego, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the beginning of the service at the funeral home. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
