(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Larry David Rupert of Miami, OK passed from this life Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 76.
Larry was born February 19, 1945 in Welch, OK to Robert and Retha (Finley) Rupert. Larry had lived in Miami for 50 years moving from Welch. He went to the old Rogers County School until 8th grade. He graduated from Welch High School Class of 1962 and served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam and Germany as teletype operator and later served in the Air Force Reserves.
He was a machinist at K.A.A.P. in Parsons, KS he then worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami, OK for 15 years and FAG Bearing in Joplin, MO for 21 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He loved tinkering out in the yard and sitting out in the sunshine.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Bobby Rupert and Marvin Rupert.
Larry married Barbara (Corn) Rupert August 14, 1970 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include 1 son Ryan Rupert of Miami, OK, 1 daughter Rachelle McCord and husband Brian of Miami, OK, 1 brother Tommy Rupert of Miami, OK, and his very special granddaughters Andryah McCord and Kacie Rupert, whom he called Bug and Pete. They were his deer hunting partners and often helped him on the farm.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. Rev. Andy Harrison will officiate. Scott Musgrave, Scott Rupert, Jeff Folson, James Rupert, Buddy Rupert and David Rupert will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 23 from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
