(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Darla Marie (Cannell) Ross, age 57 of Riverton, Kansas, passed away February 11, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Darla was born January 29, 1964 in Los Angelos, California to the late Norman Curtis and Helen May (Murphy) Cannell.
On September 22, 1990, Darla was united in marriage to her husband Terry in Webb City, Missouri. He survives, of the home.
Darla and Terry lived in Columbus for 29 years, moving to Riverton two years ago to Darla’s dream home with a swimming pool. She worked for St. John’s/ Mercy Hospital for 15 years both in nursing and also doing clerical work. In 2016, she was so proud to have earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Pittsburg State University in Social Work.
It was shortly after that when Darla became ill and was no longer able to work. Darla loved the summer time and being able to swim in their very own pool, as well as spending time gardening. She loved flowers, and traveling. Her family describes her as a collector of all things, with an affinity for Coca-Cola and Americana. She was also an avid crafter, always working on projects.
In addition to her husband Terry, Darla is survived by her sons Nick (and Allister0) Ross of Columbus, KS, and also Tyler (and Jessica) Ross of Galena, KS; granddaughter Ruby Ross; brother Kim Cannell (and Pamela) of Springfield, MO; and nephew Adam (and Kristin) Cannell of Gardenia, CA.
In addition to her husband Terry, Darla is survived by her sons Nick (and Allister0) Ross of Columbus, KS, and also Tyler (and Jessica) Ross of Galena, KS; granddaughter Ruby Ross; brother Kim Cannell (and Pamela) of Springfield, MO; and nephew Adam (and Kristin) Cannell of Gardenia, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Darla has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas for cremation. A public visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2021. We ask the public to practice Covid precautions such as mask wearing and social distancing, as much as possible. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the SEK Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
