Harold Thomas

Harold Leon Thomas was born December 23, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, to Sherman Lewis “Lew” Thomas and Lilly Glesta Wise. 

In the fall of 1945, after the war, Lew moved his family back to Missouri where he was raised. Harold was a resident of McDonald County until his death at home on April 2, 2021.

Although Harold may have only completed eight years of formal education, he enjoyed working and was successful in business and life.






Self-employed as a Farm-to-Market milk hauler (Carnation and later Milnot) and a dairy farmer in addition to serving almost 33 years in the Missouri National Guards he enjoyed the American dream and retired by the age of 55 and spent the next few decades restoring antique vehicles, building, traveling to visit family and helping friends and neighbors.

Harold is survived by his three children: Rick Thomas & wife (Sandra); Tina Thomas Keel & husband (Paul); Michael Thomas & wife (Shawn); three grandchildren: Chris Thomas & wife (Cindy), Jenny Clark & husband (Mark); and Cody Thomas; five great grandchildren: Grace Thomas, Isaiah Thomas, Judith Thomas, Charli Thomas and Haedyn Clark; one niece, Anne Tuff & husband (John), one nephew, Bill Cope & wife (Glenda), as well as several great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his dad, Lew Thomas; his mother, Lilly Wise Thomas; his stepmother, Ruby Thomas; his brother, Paul Thomas; and his sister, Mona Harris.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday morning, April 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Paul Keel officiating. Private burial was held at the Thomas Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
