Buster Paradee

Gene E. “Buster” Paradee, age 74, passed away at 8:42 pm. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at St Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, MO.

Buster was born August 2, 1949, in Joplin, MO. His parents were Gene E and Chlea Earlene (Kohl) Paradee. He was raised in Galena KS and attended Riverton KS schools. He had lived in Carl Junction for the past 45 years.

He worked for Fleming Foods as a forklift operator, retiring in 1994. He then began working at Hedge Towing, for several years. He enjoyed shooting guns and trading weapons at gun shows. He kept himself busy doing many different tasks including working on old cars.








Buster was married to Nancy Ann Massey on November 6, 1992, in Carterville, MO. She survives.

Additional survivors include one son, BJ Paradee (Stacy), Liberal, MO; one daughter, Legena Smith (Bryan) Oswego, KS, two stepdaughters Kim Shember, Carl Junction, and Casey Glaze (Sean), Carl Junction; one sister, Carloyn Dykens, Joplin, MO; four grandchildren, five step-grandkids and two great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by parents, Wayne “Pops” and Earlene Shuey, one brother, Kenny Lewis, and two sisters, Suzie Baker and Sandy Richardson.








Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.

A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice in his name.
