(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Sharon Kay Cole, age 76, Joplin, Missouri passed away Friday April 19, 2024 following a sudden and unexpected decline in health.
She was born June 19, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri to Ed and Eunice Simpson.
Sharon was an LPN at the former Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin, MO and later moved into utilization review. She relocated to Pensacola, FL in the early 90’s and continued working in UR at Baptist hospital, before returning to Joplin to retire as an on the floor nurse in the Brady Building at St. John’s. Sharon also owned and managed rental properties in the area for many years.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sitting by the water enjoying a drink and always having a funny story to tell. She also enjoyed racing her corvette back in her younger days. Sharon was a cheerleader in high school and was in the last class to graduate from Duenweg High School.
Sharon is survived by her daughter of Joplin, Missouri Shani Oliver, a son Hardy Cole also of Joplin. Five grandchildren, Rhyan Montee, Shayla Suhrie, Adam Powell, Ty Cole and Maddy Cole. Two great grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday April 25, 2024 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Wednesday April 24, 2024 at the mortuary.
