Dorothy Gillespie

(From Parker Mortuary)

Dorothy Mae (Moser) Gillespie, age 98, Rogers, AR, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in Rogers.

Dorothy was born August 30, 1925 in Cushing, OK, daughter of the late Harvey John Moser and Ollie Della (Ledford) Moser. She grew up in Joplin, one of six children and attended Joplin Schools. She worked for some time in the garment industry as a seamstress, but this is “not who she is."

She was the sweetest, most open hearted. loving and funniest person you will ever meet. Her home was always open to those who needed a place to stay for a while or a meal. She took care of her mother, two sisters-in-law, and her husband when they were no longer able to take care of themselves. When she was in her 70’s, she and her brother began holding church services in a nursing home which they did for over 15 years. She was a resident of the Joplin/Webb City area most of her life until 2016 when she moved to be nearer her daughter in Rogers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her others first. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Gillespie who passed away in 1992, and two daughters, Billye Dawn Coleman who passed in 1993, and Judy Mae Gillespie who passed in 2020.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Law and husband Terry of Rogers, AR; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James Longmate officiating. Interment will follow in Saginaw Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
