Betty and Stewart met at the legendary Connor Hotel and knew it was love at first sight. It was years before they would be wed, but once joined they would spend time managing Stewart’s business ventures, traveling, and enjoying life to the fullest. She spoke most about their trips to Hawaii, Jamaica, and Rome. Those two lived the best years of their life together, and Betty dedicated her life to taking care of him when Stewart was unable to care for himself. We will never forget that even at the end of his better days, Stewart would walk to Higdon’s weekly for a bouquet just for her. They truly were what love Is.
After Stewart passed, she spent free time with and caring for her special sister in laws, Evelyn and Georgetta. She also enjoyed primitive crafting and volunteering with local agencies. She dedicated twenty-five years of her life to Crosslines Ministries of Joplin as well as Joplin Association for the Blind. Betty made lasting friendships of those she met while volunteering. She also took up dancing. You could find Betty most Friday and Saturday nights at the Saginaw ATA Lodge dancing the night away.
