Chief Master Sergeant , Richard C. Goldthwaite, Retired, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at National Health Care in Joplin.
Mr. Goldthwaite, son of the late Roger and Mildred (Kurkowaski) Goldthwaite, was born on December 19, 1946 in Palo Alto, Ca. In 1967 Richard enlisted in the Untied States Air Force serving his country honorably until his retirement in 1990. He was a decorated Vietnam Era Veteran serving two tours, receiving numerous medals and awards including a personal Presidential Unit Citation from former President Jimmy Carter. On October 19, 1996 in Joplin he was united in marriage to Donna Johnston. Richard was an active member of the Peace Tabernacle Church of Joplin.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Goldthwaite, of Joplin; two daughters, Jennifer Knight, of Leander, Tx, and Amy Campbell, and her husband, Jeff, of Roundrock, Tx; three brothers, Roger Goldthwaite, of Los Gatos, Ca., Ronald Goldthwaite, of Campbell, Ca., and Arnold Goldthwaite, of Joplin, Mo.; two grandsons, Ethan and Parker Knight; and one granddaughter, Lorna Barker.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Goldthwaite, of Joplin; two daughters, Jennifer Knight, of Leander, Tx, and Amy Campbell, and her husband, Jeff, of Roundrock, Tx; three brothers, Roger Goldthwaite, of Los Gatos, Ca., Ronald Goldthwaite, of Campbell, Ca., and Arnold Goldthwaite, of Joplin, Mo.; two grandsons, Ethan and Parker Knight; and one granddaughter, Lorna Barker.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4th from 6:00 pm until 7:00 at the mortuary. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Tabernacle and entrusted to the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.
