David Ray Givens, 76, of Granby, passed away after a short illness on Dec. 28, 2018 at Freeman Neosho Hospital.
David was born Dec. 13, 1942 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Roy and Josephine (Harris) Givens. David and his family moved to Missouri at the age of 2 ½ years after his father died in 1944. He was active in scouting, was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. David joined the U. S. Army in 1962 and served until 1966. He was in the 25th Infantry in the weapons platoon at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He also played the trumpet in the Army Band. David was in law enforcement most of his adult life beginning with the Police Dept. in Salamanca, NY and several police departments in Texas, Oregon and Colorado. David also taught Law Enforcement in Houston, Texas.
David and Linda K. Cooney were married 1967 and they had three children, Kelly Sue Siperek, Salamanca, NY, David Russell Givens, Moses Lake, WA and Kristy Lynn Anderson, Randolph, NY and they survive. David then married Deanna Judd on July 16, 2005 in Diamond, MO. He is survived by his wife, Deanna; a stepson, Dan Mishler, Neosho; one sister, Betty Ruth Nagel, Carthage, MO; 9 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Roy D. Givens, Jr.; two brothers, Roy J. Givens and Richard L. Givens; an infant brother, Darryl D. Givens; and an infant sister, Delores J. Givens.

Services will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at Clark Funeral Home in Granby, MO with Denny Givens and Pastor Phil Barber officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Stella, MO. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 6 - 7 pm at Clark Funeral Home in Granby, MO.
