Amanda E. Sharp, age 35 of Joplin, Mo. gracefully succumbed to her battle with Cardiac Sarcoma on Friday, March 1, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Amanda was born on August 17, 1983 in Joplin, the daughter of Steve and Debbie Harris and Carla (Winch) Parker. Amanda has been a lifetime area resident, she graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelor’s Degree and later from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She started her teaching career in Seneca, then went on to teach third grade at Stapleton Elementary in Joplin. Amanda also was a cheer coach for many years. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Michael Jackson fan, and loved attending Members Only and Rosy Hips concerts.
Amanda’s smile and infectious positive energy lit up any room she walked into. Her kind spirit and loving soul will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known her.
She married Preston Sharp on July 23, 2005, he survives. Additional survivors include her parents, her daughter, Ava Sharp, three sons; Matthew, Ethan and Tristan Sharp, all of the home, her brother; Steven “Buddy” Harris of Henderson, Nv., two sisters; Jennifer Powers and husband Quenton of Webb City, Mo., Khandace Goumaz and husband Randy of Joplin, grandparents; Trudy Harris, Walt and Venicca McCauley, Charlotte Clemons and Karen Adkins, her nephews, Zander, Haydyn, Landon and Cristian, and many loving cousins and friends.
Amanda was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jim and Dora Fredricks, and paternal grandfather, David Harris.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Amanda Sharp Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
The family also requests any of Amanda’s former students that attend her visitation to please bring a picture of themselves to be placed on a board for “Amanda’s Kids”.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Saint Paul's Church in Joplin. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
