Ray Artis

Irving Rayphield “Ray” Artis, Jr., age 59, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Ray was born March 12, 1961 in Ramapo, New York to the late Irving Rayphiled Artis,Sr. and Sylvia Lee (VanDunk) Artis. 

 After graduating from high school, Ray proudly served in the United States Army. Ray was an over the road truck driver, a profession he truly enjoyed. To many he was known by his CB Handle “Soul Train”.






Ray was full of life and chose to always look at things with a very positive outlook. He loved to sing, dance and make people smile. Ray loved that his job allowed him to see so much of the country and some of his favorite trips where those where family was able to accompany him. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Ray is survived by his children, Breyden Artis, Adriana Artis; longtime companion, Cherie Volkman; siblings, April Lewis, Eric Artis; together with several extended family members and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
