Christine Decker

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Christine Louise Decker, 70, of Flemington, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on February 24, 2021, following a short illness.

Christine was born on January 27, 1951 to Merritt Lee and Norma Moots at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Missouri and returned to the family home in rural Miller, Missouri.

Christine gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ in her Junior Sunday School class which was taught by Goldie Kabel at Round Grove Baptist Church. Faithfully attending church, and leading her family to do so as well, was always a priority to her. She was proud to see her all of her children and grandchildren actively serving in their local churches – a testament to the teaching she provided along the way.

On September 27, 1968, she married Danny Decker at Kings Point Baptist Church in Lockwood, Missouri. This was the beginning of a legacy that spanned 52 years, producing three children, 7 grandchildren, and so far two great grandchildren. She was a devoted Pastor’s wife for nearly all 52 years of her marriage. She faithfully prayed, served, and supported the ministry that God continued to provide through her favorite Pastor, her husband Danny.

Christine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose faith in God and family always came first. She loved nothing more than praying for and supporting her family in whatever they were doing and was always giving of her time. Whether it was supporting her husband Danny and their ministry, driving hours to watch her kids, and then grandkids, playing in ballgames and other activities, teaching Bible studies, mentoring women while in seminary to prepare them for life and the mission field, or just sharing her wisdom with others through life experiences. You could always count on her smile to light your way. Christine loved talking to people and after talking with her, you always left feeling better and knowing she cared. One of her favorite things was lighthouses. This was very fitting because she was a lighthouse for her family. She was a quiet voice full of wisdom that gave light and direction to whatever her family was facing. This fierce prayer warrior will be missed by her family and all who were privileged to know her.

Christine was preceded in death by her father Merritt Lee Moots, Mother-in-law Henrietta Lowrance, Father-in-law Bob Lowrance, and Sister-in-law Lori Moots.

Christine is survived by her Husband Danny Decker of Flemington, MO, Mother Norma Moots of Miller, MO, Brother Terry Moots and wife Shirley of Springfield, MO, Brother Dan Moots of Miller, MO, Son Dan Decker and wife Jenni of Neosho, MO, Daughter Angela Hammons and husband Jerry of Salem, MO, Daughter Rebecca Almond and husband Justin of Wheatland, MO. Seven grandchildren, Bethany Sutherlin and husband Zane, Landon Decker and wife Chelsey, Joseph Decker, Kaden Decker, Logan Decker, Emma Almond, and Malea Decker and two great grandchildren Elias and Ensley Sutherlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christine’s name to Sparrow Ministries of Ashland, Missouri.

A Celebration of Christine’s life will be held on Saturday March 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at King’s Point Baptist Church in Lockwood, Missouri.
