Debbie Doss

Debra J. Doss passed away on February 20, 2021. She was born on June 16, 1958 in Joplin, MO. to Clyde and Marjorie Smith. 

Debbie attended Parkwood High School and graduated in 1976. She attended Missouri Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education. 

She also earned a Master’s Degree in computer technology from Pittsburg State University. She taught math for 25 years at Webb City Jr. High and coached volleyball. 







After retiring, Debbie worked at Schifferdecker Golf Course where she fell in love with golf. She started playing tournaments and joined the Briarbrook Golf Club, the Briarbrook Women’s Golf Association, the Schifferdecker Women’s Association and the Missouri Golf Association. She also found time to work for American Airlines in Joplin, which allowed her to take trips to play golf. Debbie loved attending St. Louis Cardinal baseball games and watching the Chiefs games.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Tim, her children; Colby Wakefield of Kansas City and Carlie Wakefield of Joplin, her stepchildren; Kim Bullard of Ozark, and Kasey Mullins of Kansas City, her granddaughter, the light of her life, Kinsley Wakefield, her sisters; Cheryl Stephenson husband Mark, Karen Wilson husband Terry, Terry Ritchey husband Don, brothers; Randy Smith wife Patricia, Gary Smith, 12 nieces and nephews, 30 great-nieces and great-nephews and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Webb City Scholarship Fund in care of the mortuary.

Due to Covid, the family has chosen to observe private family services at a later date. There will be an open visitation in which friends are able to come pay their respects during the funeral home’s operating hours. Honorary pallbearers will be Tammy Thomas, Rita Moore, Leigh Ann Hackney, Jill Huffman, Dawn Huff, Kathy Goetz, Jan Rose, Teri Carlson, Kerry Helton, Jennifer Fagan, Jan Chase and Jayne Green.
