Bob Gust

Orland Robert “Bob” Gust, age 77 of Joplin, MO. passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Godly. Family man. Husband. Dad. Papa. Loving, kind, hilariously funny. Bob is all of the above. The creator of this family. Our keeper. Our rock. He lived life for his family. Loved his God. Lived life accordingly with his goal to enter his Heavenly home and see our daughter Natalie. 

He did just that on February 14th with his wife, three children and their mates, seven grandchildren, his best friend and dog Cooper, and Bella the cat at his side.







Bob was born on May 2, 1943 in Waco, MO. the son of Orland and Margaret (Artinger) Gust. He has been a lifetime area resident. Bob proudly served his country as part of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Bob returned home and worked for the City of Joplin, Baker Color, and Modine, before becoming self-employed. Owning and operating Hy-Tech Inc. retail rental business for many years before retiring in 2005 to become a full-time Papa. Bob was the Sunday School Supervisor and member of the Reinmiller Baptist Church.

He married Susan Gust in 1974, she survives. Additional survivors include two sons; Rob Gust and wife Ann of Joplin, Ryan Gust and wife Ashley of Neosho, MO., a daughter; Nichole Selvey and husband Kyle of Joplin, two sisters; Linda Williams of Wichita, KS., Marsha Foster of Joplin, and seven grandchildren; Robbie Gust, Natalie Gust, Rylie Gust, Madison Gust, Kaiden Gust, Ava Selvey and Alex Selvey.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and a daughter, Natalie Gust.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
