(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Aileen Stehm, 100, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at her residence after a short illness.
Aileen was born on October 16, 1924, in Rippley, Oklahoma. She grew up in Sarcoxie, Missouri where she graduated High School. She had resided most of her life in the Joplin area.
She worked as a supervisor for the former Southwestern Bell beginning her career in 1943 and continuing when it became AT&T before retiring in 1983.
She was a former member of the Duenweg Christian Church and then became a member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Joplin, Missouri.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, she had made over 50 quilts in her lifetime, she enjoyed crocheting, and she was very well known in her circle of friends as the Domino Queen.
She married John W. Stehm, on June 19, 1948, in Bentonville, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2004.
Survivors include one son, Frank (Carma) Stehm of Joplin, Missouri; two daughters, Julie Hook of Grove, Oklahoma and Johna Summers of Springfield, Missouri; one son-in-law, Billy Reid of Joplin, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Shelly Phillips, Jason Hook, Jennifer Burke, Charity Meadows, Christin Peterson, Brock Stehm, Shea Stehm, Clayton Stehm, and Victoria Stehm; and 17 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by, one daughter, Regina Reid; her parents, William Thomas and Mary Melissa Scott Rhoades; one-half brother, Cecil Rhoades; one sister, Peggy Stehm.
There will be a visitation from 4-6 PM on Sunday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Services will be at 10:30 AM at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 2802 Connecticut Ave., in Joplin, Missouri. The Rev. Wes Anderson will officiate.
Interment will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory in Joplin, Missouri.
